This morning, as Brylee and I eat breakfast, I have Dora the Explorer on, because, let's face it, I'm not exactly a morning person. Conversation with a little one is not exactly the easiest to do when you are trying to wake up.
I had 2 thoughts regarding this show:
1) they just had Dora's Birthday video go on sale for around $15. But the last 2 mornings in a row, they have shown it on Nickelodeon. Easy enough to just record and let your toddler watch over and over again. I do understand, though, that it might be easier to have the video that can travel with the toddler, even into the other room for some parent to be able to not have to watch constantly (I babysat, so I know that kids go through a phase of wanting to watch the same thing 20 times a day...)
2) How did Dora's head get to be bigger than both of her parents' combined? Wow!
And now, after seeing the show 2 mornings in a row: I know it's the big release, but why must you show it on Nick 2 mornings in a row? What about the parents? Don't you want them to keep their sanity? (See parenthesis in point #1).
Otherwise, I am enjoying this cute show, and so does Brylee, so I guess that is what matters!
Happy Birthday Dora!

With the big head thing, I'm going to refer to the head to body ratio difference that there is between babies, kids, and adults. It's pretty crazy.
When conversation seems lacking with the little one at meal-time, I have found a solution as I am constantly in this same situation. To avoid leaning on TV (esp. b/c I'm committed to not letting him watch TV for the first 2 years)I've started reading to him. Usually it is a book I'm reading - lately it's been Percy Jackson #3. I figure that way he still hears and sees me talking to develop his speech skills, but it also gives me something to do. =)
Funny. I have been trying to catch the bday show for Reagan and haven't gotten it yet. We must not be getting up at the same time!
I hear you with needing a minute in the morning. Mine usually bombard me, all 3 at once around 6:30am. I am stumbling around trying to atleast brush my teeth while they want.....a craft, breakfast, orange juice, a show, clothes for the day, a story, etc....It is not my fav time of day, for sure!!

du da Dora..du da dora!!!! Sydney LOVESSSSS dora!! It gets annoying after a while, but she has really learned a LOT from that show. Oh yea, and I know the whole song if you'd ever like for me to recite it for you!! LOL. (And I've always wondered WHY her head was soooo big)

Stacy asks how old is Dora? she said what is she 15 now? and her head is so big so she won't fall into her backpack ha!

I've always wondered why her parents let her run around alone-especially with a fox chasing her. And that monkey--didn't they see Outbreak...don't they know about Ebola??? ;)
Try watching Yo Gabba Gabba. I LOVE that show, and I find mysel...f singing its songs all the time when we are out. I miss Reading Rainbow. That was my favorite show as a kid!

lol...too funny! i haven't gotten to the whole 'why is dora out alone' thing, but now that you mention it, it will be on my mind!

or what in the world did they feed that big red chicken??? And I really don't see Tiko (spelling?) as a squirrel!?!?! Sydney told me one day that squirrels aren't purple!! LOL. Well, hate to break the news to her, but i've never seen a bl...ue bull either :)
The show that puzzles me is wonder pets. REALLY?? you have a duck on there that has a speech impediment...for KIDS???? ohhhh where did they go wrong with the great cartoons? lol
via Facebook:
oh I miss those days with the fun cartoons...Carebears, Smurfs, Punky Brewster...it's a shame the new generation is missing out on greatness!
From Susan Tandukar via Facebook:
smurfs are on one of those channels close to Nick Jr. (can't remember which one)..and Pink Panther and Tom and Jerry and Scooby Doo :)

THANK YOU! I had a momentary lapse of memory and could not remember any other ones. Yes...classics!
from Autumn via Facebook:
The Boomerang Channel (or that is what it is called on Time Warner Cable). I record Pound Puppies every now and then for Chloe...love that channel! I tried watching The Snorks a few weeks ago...but it was more fun when I was six and laying on my Rainbow Brite pillows!
via Facebook:
ahh...the Snorks. Another one of my favorites! And Gummy Bears, and Rainbow Brite...I am taking a major trip down memory lane...thank you Dora for starting the conversation!!!!
